Extra Credit: Evolution of Mankind's Hunger for Meat
Historically, mankind has eaten meat, poultry, and seafood dishes longer than written history allows. Research and learn about the history of our love affair with eating proteins and our spot in the food chain. Write a research paper on the evolution of which meats we eat, as well as how food preparation has evolved. Your research paper should be at least 4 paragraphs. One paragraph will discuss hunting and cooking habits of man prior to the Renaissance (16th Century and earlier). One paragraph should discuss the introduction of refined cooking methods and the meat diets man had in the 1600's through to the 1800's. Another paragraph should discuss the 20th and 21st century, and how what we eat has evolved. Include specific dishes of different time periods to prove your point.
Requirements: Assignment must be received by 3:00pm on Thursday, Dec 17th. All assignments must be e-mailed to ChefAK@culinaryarts.edu. Assignment must be at least 500 words and 4 paragraphs long. Only e-mail attachments will be accepted (do not type directly into the e-mail) in .doc, .docx, or .pdf format. Please include your name, date, and title of assignment. If you can only send in another format, please see Chef Adam first. Any assignment not fulfilling these requirements will not be accepted.
*All extra credit assignments will help improve your overall daily attendance and professionalism grade by 10 points.
