Extra Credit - Grains: On The Menu
Grains are becoming trendy items for restaurants to add to their menu. With so many health-conscious consumers out there, the need for variety of grains is gaining popularity. Rice, corn, and flour have been staples of our diet for a long time. Presently grains like Quinoa, Barley, Bulgur Wheat, Wild Rice, Farro, Buckwheat, Millet, and Flaxseeds are showing up more than ever. Your assignment is to find a menu that features at least 4 different grains (not including corn or rice products). Find a restaurant with all these offerings. You may bring in a physical copy of the menu, or e-mail a PDF of the menu. To aide in your search, look for restaurants that specialize in a balanced, nutritious menu. Be sure to HIGHLIGHT or CIRCLE the grains on your menu.
Requirements: Assignment must be received by 3:00pm on Thursday, December 17th. E-mail assignment (if applicable) to ChefAK@culinaryarts.edu. Any assignment received late will not be accepted.
*All extra credit assignments will help improve your overall daily attendance and professionalism grade by 10 points.
